In the beginning:

OmNom opened on Wesley Street in 2019 as Southport's first dedicated organic refill shop.

The goal was simple; create a space where the community could access affordable organic food and help reduce unnecessary packaging waste. To do this I began with 70 dispensers in the wholefoods refill range, way ahead of any supermarkets at the time and one of the biggest in the North West. The dispensers allowed people to buy just the amounts they needed which meant they could work to a recipe (cutting down food waste), or simple tailor what they bought to their budget.

In 2020, after a 3 month shop closure and switch to delivery, I reopened the shop and began providing fresh, seasonal, organic fruit and veg to complement the refill range, whilst also expanding the packaged range to become a one stop shop for all things organic in the centre of Southport.

Our Values:

Support and promote organic farming and food production and make it accessible to the local community.

When it comes to food production and what we eat, I truly believe that organic farming is the best method. By creating healthy, living soils we can produce resilient and nutritious food. This encourages life on every level with organic farms having more wildlife diversity then conventional farms.

Showcase the best of local, British, seasonal produce.

Seasonal eating has revolutionised food for me. Eating food in season not only means it tastes delicious, but I have developed a genuine excitement when the seasons change and an anticipation of what's to come. When the British season starts, we shift as much as possible to local produce and can get as much as 80% from organic farms in Ormskirk.

Planet & people.

Organic isn't just about avoiding a scary amount of artificial chemicals. It's about making sure the planet is looked after along the way, the people who produce our food are looked after and protected too and that means here in the UK, in Europe or further away. Everybody should be paid fairly for their work and be able to do it safely.
